Acrylic cleaning and maintenance instruction
Never attempt to clean acrylic when the surface is dry. Acrylic is not affected by alkalis, acids, salt water, or chemicals used in treating water. Acrylic is, however, affected by strong solvents such as window cleaning fluid, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, methyl ethyl ketone, paint thinner, and any alcohol solution containing more than 5% alcohol. Because of this, cleaning acrylic is different from cleaning glass. Using commonly used cleaning materials such as Windex or other ammonia-based cleaners could cause crazing.
